Course outline
Week one

Introduction to making up. Hygiene and equipment, explain brushes, types of foundation and eyeshadows where to purchase. Demonstration.

Week two

Nude m/u to see standard of the class. Using powders. Include concealing, highlighting to create a finished look. Explain how this is the basis of all m/u. Include this seasons look and makeup for shows noughties and 90's. How music and magazines follow the catwalk. Demo, then practice on each other.

Week three

Examples and explain how politics and current events influence makeup and the past influences present and future looks. Explain period makeup and how the past influences current makeup styles. Do a period influenced makeup demonstration, and then practice on each other. This week the 20's to 40's

Week four

This week the 50's to 80's. Focus on eye and lip makeup and adding lashes, creating a very glam look. Perhaps using face jewellery. Explain how fantasy and more theatrical work. Explain how the various makeup evolves, and each subtle change ushers in the next period. The 60's being the exception, not a slight change but quite drastic and different.

Week five

Character makeup. Distinguish the different characters of a film or TV production.(Main support, extras) How to behave on a film set, how to treat actors, the various departments on a production, continuity. Networking, contacts, starting points.

Week six

Hollywood Makeup. How to create that glossy ‘movie star' look. Advice on under m/u preparation. Very important for the finished look. Also talk to the class on where they wish to go from here.

You and your partner will practice the artistry of applying just the right blend of cosmetics to both male and female personalities.

Performing make-overs on TV Presenters and Actors will give you a professional insight into what is expected from a modern day Make-up Artist.

Makeup Film TV Training

Each session will consist of a demonstration by a professional make-up artist and then for you to practice what you have been shown on a real person. If you bring in your camera you can take a before and after shot for your portfolio.



Course is ideal for beginners and those interested in beauty for film, TV, fashion and Photograhic. Course will cover the following and more:

Makeup Film TV Training

Basic hygiene rules when applying make-up. Face analysis: how to decide the right colouring when applying foundation. Product awareness: what products are best for what. Application of eye make-up. Application of foundation. Application of lipstick...

You will need to purchase a basic kit for this course, the tutor will advise you prior to the course.

Her qualifications and training within the world of Beauty Therapy , Make-Up and Personal Styling is second to none and she's worked on a wide variety of catwalk and photographic fashion jobs.
